Joshua Tree 1998 On March 20, 1998 Team 134 set off for a weekend of rock climbing and repelling at Joshua Tree National Monument in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. It would be a short trek to a truly remarkable place that has become a very popular place for climbing enthusiasts throughout the world. We set up camp late on Friday night and were treated to a cloudless and wind free night on a early spring weekend. The weather even co-operated the next day as we had day time temperatures in the 80's! After a quick morning breakfast on the run we set our repelling lines up at the Indian Cove amphitheater and spend the entire day bouncing off a rock face 120 ft. off the ground! Everyone got a chance to get into it including the Varsity Scout Coach! (who was scared to death) We all had a great time that helped sharpen our skills for this summer's Philmont Expedition which will include rock climbing at Miner's Park.
